The Edmonton Oilers kicked off the beginning of their 40th season with an overseas trip to Sweden to face off against the Devils. In the season-opening game in Gothenburg, Sweden the rookie center from the Devils, Nico Hischier, battled against the captain and all-star, Connor McDavid. The Devils got the better of the Oilers in a 5-2 win, where McDavid recorded two assists.

McDavid signed this bold, graphic image over the #9 in the design and inscribed “40th Anniv.” below that.
