Connor McDavid was selected with the #1 overall pick in the both the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection Draft in 2012 and the National Hockey League Draft in 2014. McDavid went on to become captain of both teams as well.

He played 47 games for the Erie Otters in the 2014-15 regular season and put up 44 goals and 76 assists. In the playoffs, he recorded 49 points and was awarded the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as playoff MVP. Prior to that, at the age of 16 he became the recipient of the Emms Family Award presented to the OHL’s Rookie of the Year.
